This Coyote Woman is formed of prayers and poems; of cedar, sage and sweat-lodge smoke; of spirals etched into sand and nights below the full desert moon. She’s an elusive creature, stepping easily between the human and spirit worlds. Though she’s wild and wary of humankind, she loves to hear our stories and songs, which draw her irresistibly. But just as soon as the tale is done, the last notes die, the drum beat fades, she disappears into moon shadow with a flick of her bushy tail. Sometimes she leaves a gift behind -- a turquoise stone, a hawk feather, wild tobacco or osha root. This is strong “Coyote Medicine” – potent, unsettling, and powerfully healing.

"I want to feel both the beauty and the pain of the age we are living in. I want to survive my life without becoming numb. I want to speak and comprehend words of wounding without having these words become the landscape where I dwell. I want to possess a light touch that can elevate darkness to the realm of stars." - Terry Tempest Williams
